Concentration pieces

Image
For my concentration, I focused on activism in youth. I wanted to make the point that anyone at any age can make a difference. My first piece, in the top left corner, I have five different activists. They are all different ages and races. I left the faces blank because I want the people who look at my art to visualize how they think the person would look. I want them to interpret the age or their facial expression. Are they yelling a chant? Protesting in silence? Are they angry? I chose five very controversial topics of this day in age. Colin Kaepernick kneeling, school shooting, black lives matter, women's rights and LBGT. The biggest one is the school shooting protest because it is one of the biggest problems right now and youth activists started this movement. For my second concentration, I went around my school and took pictures of four activists at my school who recently participated in the walkouts. Swept Away

Image
I struggled to start this project because I was so bad at drawing figures. I never had practiced/ learned how to draw them before and it took me a while to get the hang of it. With the help of Mrs. Pollack, Jenna and videos I was able to draw figures! I originally only had a one piece project but after I cut out the gymnast, I loved it so much I made two pieces. I am not sure which piece I liked more. Overall, I really liked this project because I learned how to draw figures and I like the way it turned out. Sadly, I don't have a picture of my final pieces. Although I have my planning including the figures as well as how I would do the color scheme which did change a few times.

Cross Contour

For my cross contour project, I decided to draw The Hogwarts train that is in Harry Potter World. I went to Disney and Universal earlier in the quarter for a gymnastics meet and took lots of pictures. This was my first time drawing a full project in pen since 8th grade. It was a difficult project and I love to erase when I messed up so I was stressed out while drawing. I did like the project because it helped me advance my skills with pen. I also loved drawing the wood part at the bottom of my art. It was really fun to draw and is my favorite part of the piece. My least favorite part of the piece is the parts I shaded, I don't like the way it came out. I think that part could've came out a lot better.
